Xembedded LLC a XycomVME company has announced a drop in replacement for the End of Life SBS VR7, but with much more processor power! The XVME-689-VR7 is a powerful, very low power single slot 6U single board computer with the same VMEbus P1 and P2 pin outs as the VR7.
The XVME-689-VR7 VMEbus processor integrates an Intel® Celeron® M processor running at 1.0GHz with up to 512KB of level 2 cache and a PCI-to-VMEbus interface. With 512MB or 1GB ECC or Non-ECC DDR, 266/333MHz SDRAM available on the XVME-689-VR7. The XVME-689-VR7 has VGA Graphics out front panel or rear video support (Pixel resolution up to 1600 X 1200 at 85Hz). The EIDE Ultra-100 DMA controller supports up to three EIDE devices. One PMC 32/64-bit 33/66MHz site (IEEE P1386/P1386.1) with front panel I/O bezel and user I/O on optional P0 rear connector.
Additional options available on the XVME-689-VR7 are EIDE On-board 1.8” hard drive, CompactFlash carrier, two Serial ATA150 (SATA150) external devices and a floppy disk interface. SCSI can be added with the use of a SCSI PMC board. PMC expansion for two additional PMC sites using the XVME-976/209
This XVME-689-VR7 processor module allows users to take advantage of the low power, multiprocessing capability of the VMEbus while using standard off-the-shelf PC software, operating systems and VMEbus I/O modules.

The XCPC-9100 is a full hot swap capable PMC carrier board that can hold up to two PrPMC (PMC processor module) or PMC modules with front or rear-panel I/O support in a single 6U CompactPCI slot. The two PrPMC sites can be configured as Monarch or Non-Monarch sites with bus mastering and 3.3V or 5V signaling.
The XCPC-9100 also includes an on-board micro-controller for programming the Broadcom BCM5398, 10/100/1000Mbps Ethernet switch and the IPMI controller for reporting module health and FRU. The on-board 8-port 10/100/1000Mbps Ethernet switch routes the two channels of PrPMC 10/100/1000Mbps Ethernet lines from each PMC site, the two 10/100/1000Mbps Ethernet lines for PICMG 2.16 and two 10/100/1000Mbps Ethernet ports out the front of the module allowing the maximum flexibility in Ethernet conductivity. The XCPC-9100 can be setup for port based VLAN giving a very powerful module for many applications.
Typical applications for the XCPC-9100 with the XPMC-6710 are many. Add a FPGA PMC in the second PMC site for an intelligent I/O module, FFT engine, or in a switch fabric matrix of multiple or cascade processing engines. The VLAN capabilities of the XCPC-9100 allow for a segmented Ethernet system to optimize the though put of a team/project system.
Also see our XPMC-6710 PrPMC module to configure a complete dual 7448 PowerPC processor array in a single slot on the CompactPCI bus. The XPMC-6710 PrPMC module is well suited for use with the XCPC-9100.

The XVME-690 VMEbus Processor board is feature rich with everything needed for the most demanding applications. The board features the ability to put all of the I/O out the rear of the board using our XVME-990 rear transition module. The board can be used for those applications requiring “headless” operation using the serial port, in console mode. The XVME-690 is being offered in a RoHS compliant version but a standard “leaded” version is also available. The board is available in both standard and extended temperature ranges. The XVME-690 has the following features; Pentium ® M 1.8GHz or Celeron ® M 1.5GHz. with memory configurations of 256MB, 512MB, 1GB or 2GB of 333MHz DDR ECC memory. The PMC site is 64-bit, 66MHz PCI-X PMC site w/optional rear I/O, 3.3V. For communications the XVME-690 offers Dual 10/100/1000Mbps Ethernet and or Vita 31.1 with three serial ports, one can be configured for RS-422/485 and a Printer port out P2. The module has three USB 2.0 ports, two SATA-150 ports, two EIDE ports out the P2 and Stereo Sound with input and output channels. An option for on-board storage can use an optional on-board 1.8” hard drive or Compact Flash site all within a 4hp single slot.
If more expansion is required beyond the on-board PMC site, the XVME-690 can use the XVME-976-209 dual PMC site carrier board.
